The 16th of September, 1958, Jennifer Tilly was born in Los Angeles in extremely substandard situations. Her mother, who was a failing actor and schoolteacher, sold automobiles while her father was an automobile salesman. Jennifer being the 2nd daughter of four attended theater performances by her mother, and was amazed. Jennifer's parents split at the age of five. Jennifer spent the bulk of her life in British Columbia, after her mother moved there with her four kids. Jennifer was never the studious kind, even though it was true that she was quite artistic as a child. Her time at Canadian schools led to her being the frequent target of bullies. When she was in high school, her love for theater began to wane. To combat this, her mom helped to take part as an extra in several performances. The influence of her mother was to inspire all the children in the family to have a passion and interest for performing arts. After that, she immediately started to act.
